Diamond is a jali unit in natural terracotta, manufactured by A.P.T. Tiles at Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. It measures 8 × 8 × 2.5 in. Jali blocks are perforated screen units. Laid up into a wall they shade a facade while still letting air move through it. Like everything in the range it is pressed from Balaghat clay, rested 8 to 12 days, dried gradually in open air, then kiln fired at roughly 600 to 1,000°C and checked by hand before packing.
